The use of phones, email and internet in healthcare delivery is not a new concept, but “telehealth” is only now gaining much greater momentum thanks to increasing acceptance and evidence of its benefits.

To highlight some of BC’s advances in telehealth, the BC Alliance on Telehealth Policy and Research (BCATPR) is hosting its 7th annual workshop and networking event on May 26 at St. Paul’s Hospital. BCATPR is a multidisciplinary group led by Dr. Scott Lear with representatives from various BC health authorities and academic institutions. Its work centres on helping to integrate sustainable telehealth care services into routine health care practices.

This year’s topics include telecommunication-based programs and innovations for HIV, stroke, heart disease, renal and mental health care, personalized robotics and more.
